#KamalaMills – 14 killed, 19 injured in Mumbai’s Kamala Mills Building Fire
A major fire broke out in a building inside the Kamala Mills Compound in Lower Parel area of Mumbai killing at least 14 people, including 12 women, most of them in their twenties and thirties late on Thursday evening, and spread rapidly to nearby restaurants and offices as well.
Most of the casualties were reported from the vicinity of the restaurants that had opened in the 37-acre premises over the last few years. Firefighters battled the blaze for hours before it was finally brought under control as dawn broke.
Tweets from people purportedly at the restaurant when the fire broke out described the chaos that engulfed the spot. “There was a stampede and someone pushed me. People were running over me even as the ceiling above me was collapsing in flames,” said one tweet.
The two gutted pubs are located in the Trade House Building in Kamala Mills compound in Lower Parel area, a popular night spot as well as commercial hub housing several offices including national television channels.
Popular celebs from TV and Bollywood including Riteish Deshmukh, Diya Mirza, Nakuul Mehta, Nikita Dutta, Karan Johar, Parineeti Chopra, Anupam Kher and many others took to twitter to express their views on the #KamalaMillsTragedy. Check out the reactions:

Another tragedy, another day in Mumbai. Shudder to think that some of us including self were in the same building last eve & even commented on the massive explosion of restaurants & bars in the area. Can we stop giving licences without requisite fire & safety norms? #KamalaMills
