Ankita Lokhande to enter Bollywood in Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming period film Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi
We are happy to announce that Pavitra Rishta fame Archana Deshmukh/Ankita Karmarkar aka Ankita Lokhande is all set to enter Bollywood with the upcoming ‘Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi’. The movie is a period film based on Jhansi Ki Raani’s life story and stars Kangana Ranaut in the lead role.
Sources say that Ankita is going to play the historic character of Jhalkaribai who was a very close associate of Rani Lakshmibai.
While talking to a leading news portal about her character in the upcoming film Ankita shared, “I’d never heard of her(Jhalkaribai) before, in fact, not many have, but Jhalkaribai was one of the greatest heroes of our Indian history. I’m honoured that I’ll be telling her story to the world, fighting alongside Kangana’s Rani Lakshmibai,”
The film is being directed by ‘Gabbar is Back‘ fame Krish and the team of Manikarnika is taking extensive efforts to make Ankita and Kangana look authentic and natural. The production house in an official statement disclosed,“Ankita has finished shooting most of her portions in Jodhpur, Bikaner and Mumbai and has only a few days of work left, including a song, filming for which will commence shortly. As part of her prep, she had extensive conversations with Krish about her look and character while also reading up online and referencing the research material,”
We also hear that Ankita is going through a rigorous training to play Jhalkaribai. The actress got trained in sword-fighting with Hollywood action director Nick Powell, who has to his credit films like Braveheart, The Last Samurai, Resident Evil: Retribution, The Three Musketeers and Bourne Identity.Ankita also had to learn horse-riding.
