About Pawandeepa Rajan – The Voice India Winner
Pawandeep Rajan, a member of Bollywood singer Shaan’s team, was declared the winner of the singing reality series, ‘The Voice India’, at the grand finale on Sunday (August 30). The &TV show is a version of the internationally-acclaimed singing reality show, ‘The Voice’.
he 21-year-old from Champawat in Uttarakhand was awarded a car, prize money of 50 lakh and an album contract with a music company as part of winning the music reality show.
Rajan beat three other finalists, one each on the teams of coaches Sunidhi Chauhan, Mika and Himesh Reshammiya, to bag the title of the series’ first edition.
Pawandeep is currently pursuing his graduation from Kumaon University. He is not a trained singer and belong to Champawat village in Uttarakhand. He started playing the tabla when he was two-and-a-half years old.
He used to play only musical instruments and then it was around three years ago that he started singing.
He is also in a band called Rait (not the Pakistani band Raeth). He also tried his hands on the dholak, keyboard and guitar and can play these instruments with ease.
One of the most shocking revelation by Pawandeep is that he started learning music two weeks before coming on The Voice India.
He has got the singing genes from his dad who is a folk singer and a teacher and he used to accompany him for his shows.
When asked what he plans to do with the prize money, he says that,”I will give the entire prize money to my parents and they will only plan how to spend it. But I will be relocating to Mumbai completely to focus on my music. Agar achha raha toh acting bhi try karunga”.
